Why Give His Witches New Music

It’s only been a month Bad we started to destroy the world, and it wasn’t long before we learned that the second half of it would end Bad: About Good. Universal isn’t ready to reveal anything about the sequel, but that hasn’t stopped director Cynthia Erivo from making some changes for the next movie, especially in the music.

In a recent appearance on Miscellaneous On the Awards Circuit Podcast, Erivo talked about her approach to playing Elphaba, who eventually becomes a legendary witch. One thing he mentioned was working with the film’s composer, Stephen Schwartz, to create a new song for his character. Without giving anything away, he laughed “even if the topic will please you. I don’t know if you are ready. When we filmed, the cast and crew were crying. (…) I hope the audience is ready—it’s a song that gets to the heart of who Elphaba is.”

You may have forgotten, but Schwartz he said in 2022 there will be two new songs Bad things the second half “fulfilling the demands (of the story).” The changes to the music of the first movie mainly involve the characters or setting the case because it is no longer a stage musical, but the music was the same. Giving Elphaba and Glinda new songs keeps things fresh for fans of the movie and the OG, and it’s creative Bad: Good feeling like an event. And this will also make the new songs more attractive for the film to take its own sing-along.

But Bad: Good is supposed to come out first – and it will on November 21, 2025. If you’ve been waiting to watch the first movie at home, good news: it’s digital pulse on New Year’s Eve.
