Cole Palmer he decided a move to Chelsea would benefit his career after being kept at City, and is now flourishing at the Blues which must be a huge embarrassment for Guardiola.

The situation the club finds itself in is unprecedented and seems to have snowballed, with the McAtee situation potentially the next thing to cause problems.

According to The Times (subscription required), West Ham are interested in bringing McAtee to the capital, hoping that Julen Lopetegui it can also turn around a season that has been a real disappointment.

However, the Hammers will not have it their own way.

James McAtee must leave Man City to flourish like Cole Palmer

That’s because The Times also reports that Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Fiorentina and Bologna are all interested in the exciting 22-year-old.

Having played just two minutes in the current Premier League season, it’s in McAtee’s best interests to move on, and it’s a fair bet that his representatives will tell the City hierarchy just that.

There are still 18 months until the end of the contract (transfer market), so although there is no immediate need to sell, City could secure a better price now than in six months or a year.
