Vinicius Junior will demand to be paid a similar amount to team-mate Kylian Mbappe in his next round of contract talks with Real Madrid, a report has revealed.
The Brazilian signed a new contract in October 2023 that will have just two years left at the end of the current season, with Madrid already planning to open talks over an extension in the summer.
As he noted ASVinicius would love to sign an extension, but Madrid will have to make a significant financial investment in his services in order to close the deal.
When Vinicius signed his last contract, he accepted a salary lower than the club’s top earners, but this time around he will seek parity with Mbappe, confident that his importance to the team is at least equal to the Frenchman’s.
The main complication will be the interest of Saudi Arabia, which has long seen Vinicius as a potential success. Al Ahli were keen to sign the winger in the summer, only to balk at Madrid’s determination to meet his €1bn release clause in full.
It is claimed that Vinicius, while not exactly keen on the prospect of a move to Saudi Arabia, was keen to at least accept the offer, sparking concerns in Madrid that they could find themselves in a bidding war to keep the 24-year-old.
However, it is pointed out that Vinicius is happy in Madrid and wants to continue with Carlo Ancelotti’s side, but only if he is paid the salary he believes he has earned.
