President-elect Donald Trump is threatening tariffs against a bloc of countries when he takes office as part of his planned effort to strengthen oil and gas production in the USA
Trump, in a Social Truth post, said he told the European Union that if it doesn’t start importing more US oil and gas, it will face tariffs under his next presidency.
“I told the European Union that they must make up their huge deficit with the United States by buying our oil and gas on a massive scale,” Trump wrote. “Otherwise it’s FEE all the way!!!”
Throughout his presidential campaign, Trump promised to restore energy dominance by boosting production of American-sourced oil and natural gas. Specifically, Trump has revealed that he plans to expand fracking and end it President Joe Biden pauses on new liquefied natural gas (LNG) export permits.

Trump’s latest tariff threat comes amid a series of warnings against several countries, including China, Mexico and Canada, if they do not act to secure the border and stop drug trafficking.

Trump said he would impose 25 percent tariffs on all Canadian and Mexican exports unless the countries work to stem the flow of illegal immigration and illicit drugs coming into the US
After Trump’s proposed tariff against Canada, Ontario Premier Doug Ford threatened cut off the power and exports of critical minerals to the US if the incoming president implements this tariff on all Canadian products. However, Trump was unfazed by the threat, saying: “It’s fine if he does.”
Trump has reportedly had “very productive” talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau since he threatened a new tax.
The prime minister traveled to Mar-a-Lago to meet with the incoming president, where Trudeau told Trump could not collect the tariff, because it would completely kill the Canadian economy, Fox News previously reported.

Trump then suggested to Trudeau that Canada become the 51st state, which sources said prompted nervous laughter from the prime minister and others.
