Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is the latest Disney Plus series to take place in a galaxy far, far away. Instead of focusing on a leading Jedi hero, the show follows four unlikely child heroes who, after making an incredible discovery, find themselves traveling to the far reaches of the galaxy.
To them, the Jedi are just a myth. According to co-creator Christopher Ford, it was all part of the plan. “We wanted to incorporate the idea that these kids heard about the Jedi and stories of good and evil just like our world has legends or King Arthur stories about the Knights of the Round Table,” he said. The HoloFiles.
A big name included in this list is Academy Award nominee Jude Law. The details of his personality have been kept under wraps until now. Joining him are Ravi Cabot-Conyers as Wim, Robert Timothy Smith as Neel, Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Fern, Kyriana Kratter as KB, Nick Frost, Kerry Condon and TV on Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe. Jon Watts co-created the show with Ford and shared six of the eight episodes of the season.
Skeleton Crew is a standalone series separate from the Skywalker saga, which is a good thing. Instead of delving into the dark matter like The Acolyte did, it looks like Star Wars: Skeleton Crew uses Amblin’s character and nose to bring a child-like joy to the Star Wars universe. But will it succeed where previous Star Wars shows have failed? We have the full release schedule below so you can plan your viewing accordingly.
