How startup models can expand what AI can do (and some predictions for 2025)

Why read AI predictions from not-Sam-Altman not-AI-PhD? Well, early VCs spend their days working with people much smarter than us who use AI on the cutting edge of what’s possible. This helps us to see what will happen in the future.

In my 30-plus years in technology, I’ve never seen technology — especially advances in basic and peripheral models — affect so many processes, this quickly. It has also changed my expectations of how teams are built and how companies deliver value.

With that in mind, here are my predictions for 2025.

We try to keep the AI

I like Mustafa Suleyman details of digital models for AI because it clearly poses the question of security. Most of today’s AI in products shows the way to do it. But increasingly, AI will do things for us. We have to make our own don’t do that want them to do it.

Expect cage noise to be heard in the area. If we use California’s failed SB1047 law as a bellwether, Elon Musk’s administration and anti-Trump legislation will end sanctions. Look for things like Anthropic history regulation on steroids as companies try to “regulate themselves” to protect the safety of the foundation to avoid government regulation. Likewise, expect an increase in AI security startups to help with cyber security measures.

The basic types are like the DNA of a person

Some of you may remember the days of “Intel Inside” as a big campaign. Examples of foundations they will add brand power to the things that are building on them. This goes beyond the tone of voice, which according to Claude, looks like this today:

  • GPT-4: Helper, measurer.
  • Claude: A caring, ethical mentor.
  • Llama: Clever, fickle.

Tone is possible. How understanding and memory are used in the model is not. Colors will change how things “feel”.

AI for Nobel

Not really, but the ability to replicate scientific findings will increase dramatically. Today, AI supports the achievements of people. I agree with that Vinod Khosla about this: AI scientists – AI assistants who are top experts – will soon help their peers to find information.

This is because AI scientists don’t want to rest. He has infinite patience for repetition. They are perfect for data memory. And they can work 24/7. Take a look at the first glimpses of this ongoing work in medical discovery and clinical breakthroughs, and the many initiatives that help companies take advantage of these opportunities.

Voiceovers redefine ‘hands-free’

If Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant were all v1.0 audio interfaces, audio – and the addition of images and text – will transform new experiences that redefine our standards.

Audio only foundation examples they’re running with big startup brands to push what’s possible here. We are already seeing great progress in the Meta Smart Glasses and the evolution of Google Glass. ‘Hands-free’ will have a new meaning – and expectations.

We cross the threshold of trust with gen AI

I have good mobility. It only took me getting stuck on a few roads I didn’t know – but my map app did – before I accepted it, finally believing that map apps know the way better than I do.

The same will happen with AI outputs. Right now, experts still get the best results. This gap will be closed, and we will adopt many results of gen AI, assuming that they are similar and sometimes better than experts. They will receive credit as we refer those we refer. Case in point: See the information section of this article.

We pay a lot of cash

With environmental limitations being low – Dall-E and many other devices create new designs in seconds – non-digital assets and evidence of human nature will increase in value. Think original painting or abstract art, and ceramic mugs made by an artist, not printed by a robot in a factory.

My older kids are fascinated by VCRs and love vinyl, but this is beyond cool. In a digital world, the analog and the physical are meaningful in surprising ways, especially for the Gen Z and Gen Alpha crowd.

‘People are here’

Many of my friends love Waymo because they don’t need to talk to anyone. But when push comes to shove, the ability to connect with someone who can make judgments independent of black box logic is important. Which approach – AI or human front – has more value will be the dividing line.

Expect to see replacements as a customer service where the rush to AI will frustrate many. People-in-the-loop will be seen as better than autonomous systems. Companies (and consumers) will encourage and appreciate the difference.

What a year…

I’m ending 2024 with humility and I’m looking forward to the chaos in 2025. But I’m optimistic and courageous because I’m surrounded by smart people who are trying to build great companies and make things better. I wish you humility, joy and abundant grace in the coming year.
