Cristiano Ronaldo says Amorim is not a problem at Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo says the problem at Manchester United is not the coach and has hinted at wider issues related to the Glazers.

United sit 14th in the Premier League table after last night’s 2-0 defeat at Wolves.

Ruben Amorim was brought in a month ago to replace Erik ten Hag, but results have not improved as the Portuguese picked up seven points in his first seven league games in charge.

Asked about the situation at Old Trafford, Ronaldo said at the Globe Soccer Awards: “(The) Premier League, it’s the hardest league in the world.

“All teams are good, all fight, all run, all are strong. Football is different now. No more easy games.

“I said this a year and a half ago, and I will continue to say it: the problem is not the coaches, it’s like… I always give this example… it’s like an aquarium.

“If you have a fish in there and it’s sick and you take it out and fix the problem and put it back in the tank, you’re going to be sick again.

Manchester United’s problem is the same. It’s not always the coach who is the problem. It’s much more than that.”

I will adjust things – Ronaldo

Asked if he believes that such is the situation at the moment, he added: “100 percent. If I am the owner of the club, I will clarify things and correct the things that are bad there.”

And while he didn’t say he would one day own Manchester United, Ronaldo claimed he would follow in the footsteps of former Old Trafford hero David Beckham and one day own a big club.

Asked if he had spoken to the Glazers, he said: “I’m still young and I have so many plans and dreams ahead of me, but mark my words, I’m going to own a big club, for sure.”
