Former England cricket team striker Kevin Pietersen backed Virat Kohli amid all the criticism from former Australian cricketers amid the fourth Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The match is played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.
Kohli has become the main talking point in the ongoing fourth Test series against the Australian cricket team. The batsman has come under a lot of criticism for his antics against the opposition in Melbourne.
Kohli grabbed the headlines after he got into a fight with the debutant of the Australian national cricket team Konstas himself. The two players were involved in huge clashes on the first day of the match, which raised barriers in both groups as well as the crowd at the MCG.
After Kohli was seen attacking Sam Konstas, things between the two got more intense after the 10th over. Both players collided shoulders as they moved around the field between overs. Before that, they saw them talking briskly Usman Khawaja and the umpire stopped to separate the batsmen.
Afterwards, Virat Kohli faced a lot of criticism as many fans and pundits from Australia criticized him for his behaviour. The batsman was attacked by many for being harsh towards the young batsman, who was making his debut for the Australian national cricket team.
Virat Kohli was on the receiving end of harsh words from the crowd, but his gesture towards the fans stood out. Things didn’t stop there for him as when he came to bat he was booed by the fans and then after he came out he had a fierce moment.
As Virat Kohli returned to the dressing room, some section of the crowd said something to him. This did not go well for him as the batsman came back to answer the spectators and this sparked yet another controversy surrounding him.
Kevin Pietersen, however, is enjoying the theater that Virat Kohli is creating in Australia. He said the batsman has earned whatever happens with his runs throughout his career. He also targeted former Australian cricketers. He explained on his Twitter:
“Virat is creating theater down there! Let’s go! Imagine how boring it would be without the showman! And he has earned it ALL with his career runs! Many would have finished their successful international career with 1/4th of what he has achieved…”
