ChatGPT and Sora went down for the second time this month

ChatGPT, Sora, and OpenAI’s developer-face API were down Thursday for more than four hours. OpenAI says it first experienced a major outage at 11 am PT, but now says its services are slowly coming back online as of 3:16 pm PT. Frequent users of ChatGPT may remember that this service it dropped earlier this month also.

TechCrunch received error messages when trying to access ChatGPT and Sora on Thursday afternoon.

As of 2:05 pm PT, OpenAI said that ChatGPT has partially recovered but users may still experience issues uploading their chat profiles. At 3:16 pm PT, Sora started working again. The company says it is working hard to improve ChatGPT and its API.

This is the second time that the OpenAI family of services has dropped in the month of December.
