The Perth Scorchers delivered clinical performance to ensure a comprehensive victory in 33 races through Brisbane Heat in the 12th match of the 2024-25 Big Bash League (BBL) at Perth Stadium on Thursday (December 26). Under the floodlights, the Scorchers displayed exceptional teamwork, with Nick Hobson emerged as man of the match for his thrilling unbeaten 47 off 16 balls and two game-changing catches. Despite a spirited effort from the Heat, their pursuit of the 166-run target ended in disappointment as they were bowled out for 132 in 19.4 overs.

His unbeaten 47 came at a staggering strike rate of 293.75, propelling the Scorchers to a competitive total of 165/5. Heat’s reply got off to a shaky start, their top three batsmen falling cheaply, including the skipper Colin Munrowho struggled for his 6 off 13 balls. The middle order showed a glimmer of resistance, with Matt Renshaw (36 of 24) i Max Bryant (35 of 20) leading the defense. However, the Heat’s inability to form meaningful partnerships proved costly. Scorchers bowlers, led Andrew Tye (2/26) i Jason Behrendorff (2/33), continued the pressure. Ashton AgarAn economical spell of 1/14 in four overs further limited Heat’s scoring opportunities, ensuring there was no room for recovery.
