If you ever played with those fridge magnets back in the day, Articles of Ransom will give you a glimpse of nostalgia. It also has what I think is the most important aspect of a party game: no complicated rules, setup or explanation required. Each round begins with an open-ended question card, such as “explaining a serious illness.” Players get a number of word tiles that they make into an answer (which is often just nonsense) to the round’s question. Each “redemption” can be as complete (or not) as you wish. You may have the best words to create a meaningful answer but, in most cases, you need to be a little creative with your answer. Sometimes, a word or two is all you need.
In any case, the mix of voice tiles, which leans a little on the PG-13 side but doesn’t speak obscenities like “adult” party games like Cards Against Humanity, means that the fun is about to happen. By law, each round must have a “winner,” and the game ends after a predetermined number is reached. But it’s fun if you can forget about trying to keep score and just let everyone come up with the funniest and most random posts they can dream up. – Karissa Bell, Senior Reporter
