Former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke has spoken about the tensions between the Indian national cricket team and the Australian media in the ongoing 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He said that there is nothing to be surprised because the same things happened in the past.
The Indian cricket team has had problems with the Australian media in the midst of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The players were targeted by the local media for not answering or responding to their questions related to the games.
It all started after Virat Kohli was involved in a heated argument with Australian media personnel at the Melbourne airport. The batsman flew into a rage after the media filmed without his permission and was seen giving the officials a good thrashing.
After that, Ravindra Jadeja became a target as the all-rounder was accused of not answering questions in English. The all-rounder briefly attended the media and had to leave because the team bus was leaving. Because of this, the Australian media made a big issue.
They even had a heated argument with the Indian media manager, who then boycotted a friendly match with their Australian counterparts. After that they accused the Indian team of deliberately sending Akash Deep to the media as the fast bowler is not fluent in English.

Michael Clarke, speaking about the whole problem, said that nothing has changed since the past. He pointed out that MS Dhoni did not attend the media at all during his visit and also stated that Sachin Tendulkar was restricted.
Michael Clarke added that India already had in mind how they would fare in Australia. Citing an example about the same, he said that Gautam Gambhir let his reporter know early. Speaking on ESPN’s Around the Wicket, he explained:
“I don’t think much has changed, to be honest. I have experienced Indian teams coming here and their captain, MS Dhoni, has not held a single press conference during the entire Test series. So Sachin was very restrictive about when he decided working in the media, I think it’s been the same for a long time.
“I think they made it pretty clear before they left India what they’re going to be like when they get to Australia. They’re going to stick to themselves, stick to their plan. Gambhir made that clear in the first press conference.”

Michael Clarke added that there is nothing to be surprised about this situation. He claimed that India will not bother at all about the chat. He elaborated:
“So I don’t know why anyone is surprised, and for them it would be about what happens on the field, not off the field. So I don’t think even talking about it would bother India too much,” concluded Michael Clarke.
