Chelsea are expecting offers for Nkunku in the January transfer window

Chelsea are preparing for bids from several clubs for Christopher Nkunku in January, according to reports.

Football Insider claim they have been told by sources at Stamford Bridge that the club are expecting interest from Premier League sides and overseas when the transfer window opens in the New Year.

Nkunku, 27, is understood to have been “frustrated” at his lack of consistent playing time at Chelsea, where play in the side has been limited to appearances in the Uefa Conference League this season.

Nkunku has featured in 16 of Chelsea’s 17 league games this season, but has only started twice.

Media in Spain are reporting that Nkunku’s agent, Pini Zahavi, has offered the Frenchman’s services to La Liga giants Barcelona.

Barcelona sporting director Deco is believed to be hoping to sign a new striker to compete with Robert Lewandowski, but nothing is expected until January.

Barcelona are reportedly monitoring a number of potential attackers, with Nkunku’s name on the list also including Marcus Rashford, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Napoli’s Khvich Kvaratskhelia.

Chelsea are currently enjoying a revival under Enzo Maresco. The Blues are second in the Premier League table, unbeaten in their last 12 games in all competitions.

Maresca’s side host Fulham on Boxing Day.
