Popular Indian player Yuvraj Singh turned 43 today (Thursday, December 12). The legendary all-rounder enjoys great fanfare thanks to his record-breaking performances on the field.

Yuvraj was a weapons shooter and bowled both bat and bowl throughout his career. The Punjab-born is a two-time World Cup winner (T20 2007 and ODI 2011).

The southerner won the player of the tournament title at the 2011 World Cup while battling cancer, becoming an inspiration to many. He was the first player to smash six sixes in a T20 World Cup (against Stuart Broad against England in 2007).

On the special occasion, Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh wished Yuvraj praising him for breaking ‘boundaries’, pushing ‘frontiers’ and writing ‘history’ in her birthday wish.

Yuvraj Singh has enjoyed a successful international career, amassing over 10,000 runs and picking up 150 wickets across formats. He also scored 4857 runs in 231 T20Is, winning two IPL trophies with SunRisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians.

When Yuvraj Singh revealed that he wore women’s slippers to the airport because of the mistake of the Bollywood actress he was dating

In a recent interview, Yuvraj Singh revealed that he had to wear women’s slippers because of the actions of the Bollywood actress during the Down Under tour in 2008. He told the Club Prairie Fire Podcast (via ABP):

“She was filming in Adelaide. I told her, listen, let’s not meet for a while because I’m on tour in Australia and I need to focus. She followed me on the bus to Canberra. In the two Tests, I didn’t get many runs. And I said, ‘What are you doing here?’ And she said, ‘I want to spend time with you.'”

He continued:

“I told her you’ve got to focus on your career and I’ve got to focus on mine because I’m touring Australia and you know what that means. Anyway, we were going to Adelaide from Canberra and she packed my suitcase.”

“In the morning I asked: ‘Where are my shoes?’ She said, ‘I packed them.’ I asked, ‘How will I get on the bus?’ And she said: ‘Wear mine.’ She had these pink flip flops on and I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I had to wear these pink flip flops and I carried a bag in front of my shoes to hide them and they applauded me until I bought flip flops -dumb there.”

Yuvraj Singh was recently appointed as the ICC Global Brand Ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
