West Ham face Southampton on Boxing Day in a crucial game for both sides and Jamie Carragher’s prediction could end up angering Hammers fans.
Ivan Jurić will take charge of the Saints and hope to upset the odds, increasing the pressure on them West Ham‘s under-fire manager, Julen Lopetegui.
The Hammers were in 13th place Premier League which is not as dangerous as Southampton’s 20th place, and the fact that eight points are already safe, Jurić will focus on what it takes to get them out of trouble. Starting with three points against the East London side.
Earlier in the month it was announced that Lopetegui had one game to save his career at West Ham and Jamie Carragher has already named the perfect replacement for the Spaniard.
However, that’s Carr’s prediction for the big Boxing Day clash that is likely to be right under the noses of the east Londoners.
According to his predictions on Sky Sports Super Sixthe former Liverpool boss believes Southampton will win just the second game of the season 2-1.
If that scenario were to come true, there is absolutely no doubt that it will be difficult for Lopetegui to stay in his position after the turn of the year.
West Ham chairman David Sullivan is believed to be unwilling to pay the Spaniard a severance package if he is sacked, which is probably the only thing keeping Lopetegui in his position at the moment.
The Hammers are in poor form which has seen them win just three of their last 10 games, one of which came against struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers.
If they can’t beat a team that has six points and is by far the worst team in the English league, that can’t be defended.
