The story of Deku and friends may be over, but Bones isn’t My Hero Academia right now. At Jump Festa this week, the animation studio revealed a surprise for superhero manga fans: its spinoff series, Sales, is getting its own anime in April.
If you haven’t read, Sales comes from Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court, and also pulls a double duty as a prequel set five years before the Deku story. Its hero is one Koichi Haimawari, a college student who has the ability to travel at any distance. He doesn’t have a Hero license, but that didn’t stop him from saving people. Koichi finds his life changed when he and high school student Kazuho Haneyema are rescued by Knuckleduster, a vigilante who decides to take the two under his wing. The manga ended in 2022, but it has created a fan following that enjoys it as much as moms do, and has been waiting for it. Sales to take care of himself for a while.
I am My hero end of the anime, it makes sense that Bones will keep it Sales so close to the chest so far. His small screenplay shows the spirit of the original series is intact, and it’s his special powers where we see three fictional heroes show off their powers. The the world of My Hero it has always been one of his biggest draws, and this show offers a different perspective his main series didn’t really offer. How do “unsung heroes” like Koichi, Kazuho, and Knuckleduster fit into a team full of beloved security forces across the country? We’ll see when My Hero Academia: Vigilantes will begin in April 2025, while the final season of the anime has no release window.
