Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler has said he is “not a fan” of the figures surrounding Brentford’s poor away form as the Bees attempt to extend his side’s six-match winless run.
Thomas Frank’s tally of one point in eight away games is the worst record in the Premier League in the 2024/25 season. ahead of their visit to the Amex Stadium on Friday (19.30 GMT).
“They don’t give you any guarantee that you’re going to win,” Hurzeler said of Brentford’s away results. “We see this as an opportunity to get out of that circle of bad experiences.
“We have to try to play with more intensity and give it to the fans. Progress takes time – especially for this young team. That’s why we have to be patient with them.”

Brighton results: Hurzeler ‘responsible’
Albion took the lead but failed to win for the third time in five matches in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at West Ham, missing a number of chances.
Their 3-1 defeat by Crystal Palace on December 15 was part of a run of one win in their last five home games in all competitions.
“We have offensive specialists, defensive specialists,” Hurzeler said. “We try to improve the players with every training session.
“I am responsible for the bad results. It is my responsibility to help the players out of this situation. I consider it a privilege to work over the Christmas (period).”

Brighton vs. Brentford: The guests are ‘strong’
Centre-back Adam Webster or winger Solly March could return from injury on the bench against their 12th opponents, while Hurzeler hopes midfielder Mats Wieffer will not be troubled by an injury which saw him substituted during the second half at the London Stadium.
Hurzeler described Jan Paul van Hecke as a “warrior” after the centre-back played with a bandage on his head for most of the game following a painful mid-air challenge.
Brentford suffered their first home defeat of the season on Saturday, losing 2-0 to fourth-placed Nottingham Forest. “They’re really intense,” Hurzeler said.
“They focus on the things they can influence … they really pay attention to the little details. Against big teams, they play with the last five, so let’s see if they will come with that team against us or with the last four.
“They are very flexible – a strong team with a very good coach, who have shown very good development (under Franko). It’s a big challenge for us.”
