X is raising the prices of its premium subscription service, Premium+, by 37.5% to $22 per month, marking the biggest price increase since Elon Musk bought the platform in 2022.
The price hike will affect US users first, going forward from $16from December 21, according to a words. The annual subscription has also increased to $229 from $168.
X said it is “adjusting” prices to support its offering. Existing subscribers will be extended at current rates until January 20.
International markets are experiencing a similar increase, with rates for individuals in the European Union rising to €21 from € Canada will see Premium+ prices rise to $29 from $20.
Some markets are more affected than most. X Premium+, which removes ads and adds extras, will cost users in Nigeria ₦34,000 per month, up from ₦7,300. Users in Turkey will also pay ₺770 for the service, up from ₺300 currently.
The initial subscription to the platform will still cost $3 per month.
