The Introduction to the PC Neuron 3500X it looks like part of an expensive gaming PC. Corsair, in all its wisdom, ships its Origin PCs in large wooden boxes that you have to open yourself. Inside the box is a box, and like a vaudeville act, inside the box is another box covered with a foam crown and foam shoes. If you’re like me, you rush to your PC desk and get excited like a kid at Christmas. You don’t have to be like me because that’s how, if you open the wrong way, you can accidentally send one team crashing down.

The Origin PC Neuron 3500X looks primo sitting on your desk, but there are some issues with the 3500X’s design.

This is a PC model that looks much better than it does in person. At least it’s cool and looks good. The air comes from the bottom, and the part comes out from the back and the top. It’s a good, well-proven system that keeps things cool and quiet. RGB lights provide a glow that fills my gamer’s heart with subtle joy.
The design of the aquarium tank has caught on for a good reason. Now, you can see your best value for money games from many angles. Unfortunately, I have issues with the performance of the Corsair 3500X mid-range case. It looks great, but you should avoid putting anything heavy on top so your bag doesn’t turn into a toaster oven.
My build of the Origin Neuron 3500X would cost $3,387 MSRP, but Origin dropped it to $2,888 as of the time of this review. At least they come with free shipping for this price, although you do need to break down the crate to make the wood. It’s a good price for what you get, but part of it is knowing that you can ask better for your computer towers. If anything, the PC in its aquarium tank would be fine. Too much prevents a solid build altogether.
Origin PC Neuron 3500X Review: Create Quality
The three Corsair-brand fans are fun and intuitive, and the default iCUE software makes it easy to change the fan type and appearance for each one at once. Returning RGB DDR5 RAM sticks and the Capellix XT cooling unit are compatible with beauty. From any angle, it just looks good.
But I have some problems with the Corsair 3500 mid-range platform. The Y-shaped grating looks clean and also makes the top sheet bend in the middle. You don’t need to throw any books or other accessories on the PC on the big fire, but its small size makes it look good. On top of the box comes one USB-C, two USB Type-A ports, and a 3.6mm headphone jack. There are two additional USB-C ports on the MSI Z890-P’s rear I/O panel if you want to connect other dongles or cables.
All panels are made with ball and socket joints. This held up well for the short trip from the box to my desk, but as soon as I opened the main panel to remove the phone from the carrier, I accidentally jolted the front panel and almost fell to the floor. Both the main and rear are located behind the windshield. It’s a good idea to remove the frame before removing the parts, although there is no cutout in the frame that makes this easy. If you’re thinking about this car, you might want to be extra careful when diving into your fish bowl for regular maintenance.
Unlike other pre-built desktops you can buy, such as the Alienware Aurora R16there is no special GPU bracket. Instead, it just relies on the rear bracket and PCIe Express slot for proper fit. This is only an issue when you move the PC, but the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super is a great and powerful card. It will swing if you apply force to the end that floats free of the board.
At least the PC is quiet. The hum of the fans when idling provides a cool white noise, and even under stress, the tower does not load enough to interfere. Inside the PC you have plenty of space while still having two RAM slots and one PCIe Gen 5 slot to play with if you opt for larger Nvidia cards. When you open the back panel, you’ll find that the cables are neatly arranged, that is, until you see the cables going all the way into the PSU.
But if you’re buying this PC to have a bright PC to bathe you in cool RGB light, the Origin 3500X does the job admirably. Origin’s engineers did a great job putting it all together, but I find that there is a lot of detail in the Corsair’s case design, which ruins its overall rating.
Origin PC Neuron 3500X Review: Performance
The specs Corsair sent me include 32GB of DDR5, 6400 MT/s RAM, an RTX 4080 Super, and Intel’s latest Arrow Lake CPU, the Core Ultra 9 285K. That CPI usually hits a clock speed of 3.7 GHz, but TurboBoost should go up to 5.7 GHz, at least according to the developers.
Until I came across Origin, I had never gotten into Intel’s latest CPU. I still don’t understand why a chip maker would abandon previous generations of naming conventions in favor of “Ultra” monikers like the latest. laptop chips.
In any case, I also heard some grumbling about the chip’s performance compared to higher-end chips like the Intel Core i9-14900K. In my test, I found that the new Intel chip could not keep up with the 14900K – the Maingear MG-1 it’s the same GPU but Intel’s 14th-gen gaming CPU. The Ultra 9 scored about 200 points lower in Geekbench 6 single-core and more than 1,500 points lower in the multi-core test. The Ultra 9 performs well in Cinebench multi-core rendering tasks with an average of 65 points.
None of my CPU benchmarks did anything to defeat the claims of chip aficionados that Arrow Lake is good at design but worst at gaming. In the 3D Mark test, going head-to-head with the RTX 4080 Super, Maingear’s PC fared better in the 3D Mark Time Spy and Steel Nomad benchmarks.
It’s not like you won’t get the best games from this Origin PC. I put the machine through its paces in several games for different options. In Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark game at 3440 and 1440 ultrawide resolution, I can hit about 50 FPS at the highest settings, and ray tracing is smooth without DLSS. With Nvidia’s upgrade, you can go up to 90 FPS on high-quality graphics. At 4K, Cyberpunk starts going into 30 FPS.
You can’t expect much from a PC at this price. Baldur’s Gate III it was smooth, doing 105 FPS outdoors in Act 1 and around 87 FPS in the city in Act III, I played Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 I saw around 90 FPS in chaotic situations.
You can expect to be promoted to the most demanding positions. On average, I was doing 70 FPS with DLSS in Horizon Forbidden West and around 90 FPS in God of War: Ragnarök. This system displays games well and plays well, too. The only issue is that it’s not as intuitive as you would get with a 14th-gen Intel gaming-centric CPU. The Neuron model has options up to the AMD Ryzen 9 9950x. To be extra safe – you can wait for next year’s drop of the expected AMD 9950x3d
Origin Neuron 3500X Review: Verdict
The Origin Neuron is a solid PC that looks great sitting on your bedside table, and can bathe your entire room in RGB light. Remember to think carefully about your CPU choice if you choose a PC. It’s an easy-to-start desktop version, although you can’t just rip it out of its wooden house and cardboard bed and start playing without thinking. Although it looks solid, it has a few wrong options that require you to play with a child.
