Manchester City found themselves behind again at Villa Park this afternoon as Jhon Duran heaped more misery on Pep Guardiola’s struggling side.
The Colombian forward, named ahead of Ollie Watkins in the starting 11, struck after 16 minutes, turning Morgan Rogers’ pass into a frenetic opener.

It took a long time to reach the goal, and Villa came close twice. First, Duran found himself in the clear after just 19 seconds, but saw his shot saved by Stefan Ortega. From the ensuing corner, the German made a brilliant save to keep out Pau Torres’ header with the ball failing to cross the line.
Despite Jack Grealish’s best efforts against his former club, City did little in the opening 35 minutes. Their best effort came from Phil Foden, but his shot was saved by Emiliano Martinez in the Villa goal.
City entered the competition with just one win in their last 11 games
