GOP lawmakers indicated the House could vote on another CR proposal Friday to avert the looming partial government shutdown, but the timing remains unclear.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Florida, speaking to reporters outside Speaker Mike Johnson’s office, said lawmakers are “very close to an agreement” and suggested a vote could be held this morning.
“I don’t think the government will shut down. You’re going to see great things, very similar to President Trump’s plan yesterday,” said the congresswoman.
Luna added that “there will be no deals with the Democrats.”

However, Rep. Dusty Johnson, RSD, told reporters he wasn’t sure a vote would come as early as Friday morning.

“I have no reason to believe there will be a vote at 10 o’clock,” Johnson said. “I know some people would like to put something on the floor this morning.”
Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, leaving a Democratic caucus meeting Friday, also told reporters that Democrats had no update on the timing of a potential vote.
