Stable Diffusion 3.5 hits Amazon Bedrock: What it means for business AI

Today, Stability AI and Amazon Web Services (AWS) jointly announced this Standard Mix 3.5 Large available on Amazon’s Bedrock service. AWS is the only cloud provider that offers a version of Stability AI.

The deployment of Stable Diffusion 3.5’s Amazon Bedrock comes as Stability AI faces off against rival sites that include Google, Midjourney, Ideogram and Black Forest Labs’ Flux Proamong others. The company wants to distinguish and diversify the image in terms of style, fast track and the movement of the company.

“There’s a reason we’re on AWS,” Prem Akkaraju, CEO of Stability AI, told VentureBeat in an exclusive interview. “It’s because that’s where the manufacturers and designers are, and we want to bring our tools and our models to where they belong. Our goal is to inspire creative professionals.”

AWS has its own image processing technology, why does it need Stable Diffusion?

“We show in our research that the Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large leads the market in tracking speed, allowing samples to closely follow the given data and making it the top choice for efficiency and performance,” said Akkaraju.

How businesses can integrate Stable Diffusion into the Amazon Bedrock AI workflow

Stable Diffusion 3.5 has been available to Stability AI users through the company’s API and its Stable Assistant service since late October.

Stable AI does not see any difference between using Stable Diffusion through its API or through Amazon Bedrock. The real benefit for business users with Stable Diffusion now available on Amazon Bedrock is the ability to tap into larger, more complex business processes. Businesses can benefit from a unified workflow that ties multiple models from different vendors together with a single API.

It’s a strategy the NFL is already using.

The NFL has a program called “My Cause, My Cleats” that uses Amazon Bedrock to provide a collaborative, human-centered approach to creative design. Sridharan explained that the application uses Anthropic Claude and Stable Diffusion. The NFL uses Claude to create detailed instructions that understand their preferences and know what they want. The acceleration is fed into Stable Diffusion to create the image. The entire process and workflow is done on Amazon Bedrock without the need to jump between different services.

Another organization that has benefited from the merger is educational vendors Slow Learning. The company needed images to support its online learning game Legends Library – lots of images, up to 1,000 images per minute. Amazon Bedrock provides the foundation to support the growth of Stable Diffusion. Beyond the high performance level, there was also a need to protect the image output. “When you do all of this using one end-to-end API, it becomes easier for customers to build these types of applications,” Sridharan said.

The release of Stable Diffusion 3.5 and availability on Amazon Bedrock ends an exciting year for Stability AI.

The company’s founder and former CEO Emad Mostaque resigned in March amid concerns about oversight and a lack of funding. It took until June for Stability AI to find a replacement for Akkaraju.
