Mother Awakens With a New Movie in 2026

It’s been almost a decade since we’ve had a big female movie, and that’s when Universal tried to reintroduce its horror monsters through the Dark Universe with its single entry, Mother. Since then, the studio has focused on other monsters like Dracula and invisible people and wolf variety. But if you’ve been wanting the mummified undead to make a movie comeback, Blumhouse may have a new plan. Mother look.

The new movie comes courtesy of Lee Cronin, director-writer last year The Evil Dead Rise. In a brief press release, Cronin teased his film is “unlike any other Mother a movie you’ve watched before. I’m digging deep into the earth to unearth some of the oldest and most dangerous things. The film will be produced by Cronin’s Doppelgängers company, Jason Blum’s Blumhouse (which has Wolf Man arriving in just a few weeks), and James Wan’s Atomic Monster poster, which has Monkey and M3GAN 2.0 it was launched in 2025.

Especially, this is coming Mother the film isn’t from Universal, who distributed the failed 2017 reboot and Brendan Fraser’s ’90s favorite. In fact, the new film is coming from New Line, which has already partnered with Cronin on Wake up and worked with Atomic Monster on Conjuring and recently Mortal Kombat films. Universal released others New Line movies in the past (usually for international audiences), but this one seems to be in their own Universal world. Mother.
