Chris Sutton believes Cole Palmer will prove the difference when Chelsea visit Everton this weekend.
The Blues head to Goodison Park for the final time – unless the two sides are in the cups together – on Sunday looking to extend their eight-match winning streak in all competitions.
“I want to leave” – Enzo Maresca made a double Chelsea discovery!
That streak includes five straight wins in the Premier League, lifting Chelsea to second in the table, just two points behind Liverpool.
However, Chelsea they will be aware that Everton will present a serious test of their mettle.
Despite being 16th in the table, the Toffees are second only to Liverpool (7) in the most clean sheets this season (6), with four of those shutouts coming in their last five games — including a 0-0 away draw at Arsenal last time out .
Everton are unbeaten in their last five games at Goodison Park and although they have scored just seven times during that run, they have conceded just twice.
Sean Dyche’s men will undoubtedly force a tight game on Sunday.
However, according to Sutton, Cole Palmer will prove the difference — the English star already has 11 goals and six assists in the Premier League this season.
Giving Chelsea a 2-1 win, Sutton wrote in his predictions column for BBC Sport: “The Everton takeover has now gone through so there will probably be some speculation about Sean Dyche’s future, but they would now get rid of him at their own peril.
“Basically, if they want to stay in the Premier League this season, then they have to keep him as manager.
“Dyche’s Everton side are not pulling down any trees, but they showed in the draw at Arsenal how determined they are – they are tricky and hard to break down.
“Even so, you can’t fight against Chelsea now, with the confidence they’re playing with and the winning streak they’re on.
“I’ve already had three away wins this week, which is a bit of a risk, but this has to be number four.
“In the FPL, Cole Palmer has had some really hot runs where he’s been picking up a lot of points and also some runs where he’s been a lot quieter.
“I’m backing him to do well this weekend in FPL and in the real thing and play a big part in another win for Chelsea.”
