President-elect Trump continued his trolling of Canada early Wednesday, criticizing American subsidies to its northern neighbor and claiming again that Canadians allegedly want to become the 51st state of the United States.
In a publication of his social networks platform, Trump wrote: “Can no one answer why we subsidize Canada over $100,000,000 a year?”
“Nonsense! Many Canadians want Canada to become the 51st state. They would save massively on taxes and military protection,” Trump wrote.
The release comes amid tensions between the US and Canada over the new president’s plans to impose a 25% tariffs in Canada for not addressing trade and immigration issues.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau flew to Mar-a-Lago to try to discuss the issue. Sources say Trump got excited when it came to the US trade deficit with Canada, which he estimated at more than $100 billion.

Trump suggested to Trudeau that if tariffs on Canada would kill his economy, maybe Canada should become the 51st US state.
Meanwhile, Trump’s threats to impose tariffs on Canadian imports are unnerving in Canada, which is deeply integrated with the US economy.
About 60% of US crude oil imports come from Canada, and 85% of US electricity imports as well.
Canada is also the largest foreign supplier of steel, aluminum and uranium to the US and has 34 critical minerals and metals coveted by the Pentagon.
