The file transfer service WeTransfer is now limited to 10 users per month with its free plan. The company is already applying new limits to users, such as support page.
At the same time, WeTransfer is adding additional features to the free plan, including increasing the total file transfer limit from 2GB to 3GB, adding unlimited portals (joint folders to work with customers) and comments, privacy protection for all transfers. It also waives a 5% processing fee on payment transactions, a program that allows users to sell files on the platform.
The company, which was purchased by Italy-based Bending Spoons in Julyit is also changing all its prices. There is a new WeTransfer Starter plan that costs $6.99 per month. The basic plan has the same benefits as the free plan with a storage limit of 300GB.
Previously, WeTransfer had a Pro and Premium plan costing $15 per month and $25 per month in the US Now, the company is bundling all the benefits into a $25 per month Ultimate plan.
At the time of purchase, we wrote that Bending Spoons may download people from WeTransfer or change the prices of donations. All of that is true now. In September, Bending Spoons announced cut 75% of WeTransfer’s workforce. And now, there’s a change in the price tag, too.
The company followed the same playbook when it acquired Evernote in 2022. First, that reduced the number of employees at Evernoteand so, banned the free version of the writing program. In August, the company changed again how file expiration dates work for the plan you are enrolled in.
