Ruben Amorim responds to Marcus Rashford’s shocking Man Utd transfer admission


Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed he “of course” wants Marcus Rashford to stay at Old Trafford.

The Mercurial forward has had mixed form of late. Despite scoring three goals in six appearances since Amorim’s mid-season arrival, Rashford has been surprisingly fell for United’s derby win over Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The Portuguese coach explained that Rashford’s absence – along with fellow striker Alejandro Garnacho – was not a disciplinary measure, but emphasized the importance of “the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you socialize with your teammates and push your teammates.”

Rashford supported his side on social media over the weekend but broke his silence shock interview published on Tuesday evening. The United academy graduate admitted he was “ready for a new challenge” and spoke of “when I leave” rather than “if”.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of United’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, Rashford was the first, second and third topic of conversation.

Openly asked if he wants the English representative to stay, despite the rumors about potential January exitrevealed Amorim: “Of course, because a club like this needs big talents and he is a big talent. He just needs to play at the highest level and that’s my focus. I just want to help Marcus.”

The United the boss added: “We’re better with Marcus Rashford and it’s as simple as that. We’ll try different things to push Rashford to the best levels he’s shown me in the past.”

Rashford has been training with the squad and Amorim admitted he could be involved in the midweek trip to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium: “He’s our player and he’s ready for the next game.”
