Microsoft bought twice as many Nvidia Hopper chips this year as all its competitors.
The tech giant bought 485,000 Nvidia Hopper chips in 2024 according to reports from Financial Timeswhich mentioned the tech giant Omdia. By comparison, Meta bought 224,000 equivalent, Nvidia chips this year. Microsoft’s 2024 chip purchases will more than triple the number of Nvidia chips the company bought in 2023.
Microsoft is making its own your AI chipsin turn, they called Maia, which they announced at their Ignite conference at the end of 2023.
The company delved into AI this year. Microsoft expanded its partnership with OpenAI and played a role in the company’s success $6.6 billion in revenue in October. The company also signed an agreement to relaunch the popular brand Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in September is buying all the energy the plant produces for 20 years to support its data.
