Australia in trouble? Travis Head delivers a colossal update on his injury after the Gabba Test


Australian national cricket team batsman Travis Head has released an update on his groin injury and availability for the next Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He mentioned that he is in pain but will be fit for the next match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Australian National Cricket Team faced a major injury scare on Day 5 of the third Test against the Indian National Cricket Team. In-form batsman Travis Head suffered a groin injury and his availability for the next game looked under threat, especially with the way he was walking.

This could have been huge in the context of the series, especially with Travis Head being the main batsman for the Australian national cricket team. The batsman was the main reason why his team dominated the series as he took his game to the next level.

Head, who hit a magnificent century in Adelaide, followed it up with another ton at the Gabba. The batsman played a brutal innings of 152 runs and took the match away from the opposition, enabling his team to score a mammoth total of 445 runs.

Head, who won man of the match at the Gabba, spoke about his innings, saying he was happy to contribute to his team. He also expressed his delight at the way he is batting in the series. In the conversation after the match, he explained:

“It feels like a long time since I batted to be honest. I’m happy to contribute, it’s nice to get a few runs and set us up in the first innings. It was a challenging wicket but I worked well through the speeds, and I was pleased to I managed to get through and set the team. I’ve been trying to sum up the conditions, I feel like I’ve been doing well in this series so far, I’m very happy with the pace.”

Travis Head also spoke about his partnership with Steve Smith, who also hit a century, saying he gains confidence while batting right-handed. Speaking about his injury, he confirmed that he will be ready for the next game. He added:

“Pretty relaxed communication, I feel like he (Smith) was in a good rhythm, it gives me a lot of confidence when I’m batting with him, it was a nice partnership, I really enjoyed it. When I first came out, I’m trying to navigate the different challenges and solve different problems. Just a little sore, but I should be fine (before the next game).”

Travis Head will be looking to continue his form with the bat in the next series. With the series tied at 1-1, the next meeting will be important for both teams. The match will be played at the MCG from December 26.
