Rashid Khan is set to return to Afghanistan’s Test squad for the Zimbabwe series. Rashid will play his first Test since 2021. The series will be held in Bulawayo from December 26 to January 6.
Rashid Khan he was named in the afghanistan test team against Zimbabwe. Rashid Khan is out of Tests from 2021 due to a groin injury. His return is expected to strengthen Afghanistan spin attack in the red ball game.
“Rashid Khan is returning to the Test squad, which is a promising sign for our red-ball game going forward,” Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil, ACB’s interim chief selector, said in a statement. “The rest of the squad recently underwent a good preparation in Nangarhar province, which included 19 players and all support staff who work with the players and ensure full preparation for the series.
“We have followed the proceedings closely and selected a squad that includes several new faces including Ismat Alam, Bashir Ahmad and Zahir Shehzad, who performed well during the recent Ahmad Shah Abdali First-Class Tournament.”
Zimbabwe fielded 7 uncapped players. Allrounder Ismat Alam, left-arm spinner Zahir Shehzad and left-arm pacer Bashir Ahmad Afghan, Azmatullah Omarzai, Fareed Ahmad, Riaz Hassan and Sediqullaj Atal.
They earned their places with consistent home performances. Afghanistan reflects concerns about expanding the talent pool. This marks the preparation of young players for Test cricket.
