An adviser to New York City Mayor Eric Adams abruptly resigned Sunday amid a federal investigation into corruption and bribery allegations against Adams.
Counselor Ingrid Lewis-Martin has had her phones confiscated and her home searched as part of the investigation. He issued a lengthy statement about his tandem departure with Adams on Sunday, saying he plans to spend more time with his family.
“To my fellow politician, brother and friend, Mayor Eric Adams: I thank him for reaching out to me in 2004 and asking me to run his Senate campaign. I thank him for seeing things in me that I did not see. in myself,” Lewis-Martin said.
“I humbly thank you for encouraging me to be my authentic self and for supporting me through some difficult times. As you might say, this has been a good ride; I’ll use author’s license and say it’s been an amazing ride. “, he added.
Adams’ statement echoed his aide’s friendly tone.
“Ingrid has not only been a friend, confidant and trusted advisor, but also a sister. We’ve always talked about when this day would come, and even though we’ve been planning for it for a long time, it’s still hard to know .Ingrid won’t be around every day,” Adams said.
“I and all New Yorkers owe her a debt of gratitude for her decades of service to our city. While she may spend much more time with her granddaughter, I know Ingrid will still remain involved in making our city is moving forward from the sidelines while continuing to root for our administration and our city,” he added.

The announcement comes a few days later Adams met with border czar Tom Homan entering. Adams has taken a more aggressive immigration stance since President-elect Trump’s victory in November.
“It went really well,” Homan told Sean Hannity Thursday night. “Look, I sat down with the mayor for over an hour. He understands. And today he showed that, as the mayor of New York City, he’s more concerned about public safety than politics. I wish Mayor of Chicago and San Diego City Council Mayor and Governor Pritzker, I’d like everyone to take a page out of Mayor Eric Adams’ playbook.”
Homan recalled how the “ex-cop” came out of Adams during their closed-door meeting Thursday in New York.

“He cares deeply about public safety and is putting politics aside. He wants to help ICE take criminal threats off the street. He wants to help ICE look for national security threats. He wants to help ICE find more of 340,000 missing children, many of whom will be in the city, so a big gathering.”
“Hats off to the mayor for coming to the table and working with us,” Homan credited.

Homan revealed that since his meeting with the New York mayor, other leaders across the aisle have reached out to him.
