The holidays are great for revisiting past celebrations, but you don’t have to limit yourself to old Christmas options. Advertising services sleigh rides and animated movies about people’s love affairs with snow, Santa Claus rescue missions and letters to the North Pole gone terribly wrong.
With Jack Black, Danny DeVito, Dwayne Johnson, Lindsay Lohan and other big names in attendance for the holiday season, there are enough stars to raise tons of Christmas trees. If you want to spend some time watching TV this season, check out this list of 2024 Christmas movies that you can watch right now.
After hitting theaters in mid-November, the holiday-themed Red One debuted. Starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, the PG-13 film centers on a worldwide quest to save Santa Claus. You can watch the film on Prime Video to see if the two stars get along well.
Exes on awkward terms are brought together for Christmas ten years later in a Netflix movie. Lindsay Lohan and Ian Harding play ex-girlfriends after they reunited when their friends – who are actually their brothers – threw them a holiday party. Will they be able to keep their history private? You’ll have to call to find out.
Ben Stiller lives in the big city and his life changes. She leaves Chicago to temporarily look after her four orphaned grandchildren on a rural farm, and a child-filled frenzy ensues. The real brothers play a quartet of boys, and Linda Cardellini plays a social worker.
It’s Taron Egerton vs. Jason Bateman in Netflix’s Airport has enough holiday energy to make it to this list. The scene unfolds as Bateman’s tough guy convinces Egerton’s TSA agent to let the bag go through security and get on the Christmas flight. If you want a different type of vacation, leave room in your suitcase for this.
The Netflix holiday release no one saw coming — but it makes perfect sense — Hot Frosty stars Lacey Chabert as a small-town mom who meets a hunk who came out of the snow. The comedy outing also features The Office’s Craig Robinson and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Joe Lo Truglio — a sheriff and deputy on the trail of an actor who may or may not be the hottest (and technically coolest) newcomer.
Magical entertainer Mike, The Merry Gentlemen follows a big-city dancer to save his struggling parents. His method? An all-male outing directed by Chad Michael Murray’s chiseled handyman. All this must be accomplished at Christmas, of course.
Want to spend Christmas with a cute little owl? This animated short film on Disney Plus follows the journey of a young bird named Moon, who ends up alone in Rockefeller Plaza during the holidays and hangs out with a girl who is also far from home. Voice actors include Jim Gaffigan, Mamoudou Athie, Natasha Lyonne and John C. Reilly.
Succession’s Brian Cox talking about Santa Claus is one of the PG-rated cartoons from Love Actually by writer and director Richard Curtis. The film is based on the children’s book by Curtis, who co-wrote Christmas, and writes several stories about the holiday.
Pop group Pentatonix and Christina Milian star in a rom-com vacation which leads to festive music and chemistry. Milian’s character hunts for tickets to a sold-out Pentatonix concert in New York City, hoping to join the boy she met last year. But the idea of hiring a concierge brings a second, unexpected interest.
Paramount Plus’ first Christmas movie, Dear Santa, has a star-studded plot and envelope-pushing: What if a little boy accidentally wrote a letter to Satan instead of the man with the bag? Jack Black stars as the kid’s new devil friend, and Keegan-Michael Key and Post Malone appear in a holiday movie that didn’t get too hot from critics.
Gerard Butler’s St. Nick meets Queen of Hearts Emilia Clarke in this musical film based on the book of the same name by Carys Bexington. This is a holiday photo that will appeal to children.
Danny DeVito and Andie MacDowell star in the Hulu offering set in the Dolomites, Italy. In a hilarious comedy, a family spends Christmas at an unusual time of year as a 10-year-old girl tries to keep her parents from going astray.
When it comes to new holiday movies, Hallmark has some winter stuff. If you don’t have cable, you can use Peacock to catch Countdown to Christmas — but you should. above the process. Streamers offer live movies as they air on the Hallmark Channel on the East Coast or the next day on demand. Just make sure you go the route you want, the viewing window is 3 days.
