The Magic Mouse has gone a long time without major changes to its design beyond things like dropping AA batteries and getting a USB-C port, but Apple says it plans to revamp it. In Turn it on In the post, Mark Gurman says that Apple has started working on a new version of the Magic Mouse, which was first released in 2009.
Although some users love the Magic Mouse for its control, other aspects such as its inconsistent design and its upper port have been the subject of complaints for years. We don’t know what the update will bring, but it would be nice to see those things addressed. And it sounds like we will. According to Gurman, “Apple wants to make something really important, and to fix some long-standing complaints – yes, including the port problem.” It may still be a while before we see the new Magic Mouse. Gurman says it could take another year to 18 months to be ready for the market.
The letter also gives us more information about the rumored new AirTag that Apple is said to have in the works for release next year. Building on his previous reports on the next generation AirTag with a better chip and an unobtrusive designGurman now says that the new tracker will have “a new band chip similar to the one introduced in the iPhone 15,” which he says can triple the accuracy of Precision Finding.
