Warren on RFK Jr.’s pick: ‘Say goodbye to your smile and say hello to polio’



Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) sounded the alarm about anti-vaccine lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President-elect Trump. choose to lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“Say goodbye to your smile and say hello to polio — that’s what’s on the horizon if Robert F. Kennedy Jr. becomes Secretary of Health and Human Services,” Warren. he wrote in a post on Friday on social platform X, along with a video message.

“You know, I’d laugh if it wasn’t so scary,” the Massachusetts Democrat said in the video.

The publication comes as Trump’s choice to elevate Kennedy, an environmental lawyer raised concern between Democrats and public health experts that could interfere with key government agencies, amplify vaccines vaccines and direct agency funding to further their preferred views.

Kennedy, who suspended his independent candidate for the White House and supporting Trump, has been in the headlines lately after the president-elect pointed out in a recent interview that the potential head of HHS would investigate a debunked link between vaccines and autism.

One of Kennedy’s most controversial ideas is to eliminate the use of fluoridea naturally occurring substance that has been used in drinking water since 1945, from “all” US water systems.

He also claimed the mineral was “associated” with numerous medical problems, although the problems are related to higher exposure to fluoride than most experience while drinking water or brushing teeth.

Fluoride is widely considered one of the most important public health measures of the 20th century.

Kennedy, who became a key Trump campaign surrogate, has said federal health regulators are “sock puppets” held captive by industry special interests. He has promisedpurge entire departmentsto the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to eliminate corruption.

Warren, in her post, also took aim at Kennedy’s opposition to vaccines, claiming she wants to “prevent children from getting polio and measles.”

Kennedy founded and led the anti-vaccine organization Children’s Health Defense before leaving office to launch his 2023 presidential campaign. He has previously said he believes the mercury-containing preservative thimerosal in vaccines causes childhood neurological disorders, autism in particular

Although, in October, Kennedy wrote in onepublish to Xthat it won’t “take away anyone’s vaccines.”

“I just want to make sure that every American knows the safety profile, the risk profile and the effectiveness of each vaccine,” he said. “That’s all.”
