OpenAI implements ChatGPT Projects, allowing you to organize files, group chats

OpenAIThe latest release, Projects in ChatGPT, shows the importance of organizing files and conversations on ChatGPT. The same is the case with GooglePopular NotebookLM work.

On the sixth day of the “12 Days of OpenAI”, the company presented Projects in ChatGPT, allowing users to create folders and add conversations and documents, bringing this capability to one place.

OpenAI released Projects to ChatGPT Plus, Pro and Teams subscribers on Friday. However, ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu users will have to wait until January to get the service. The company said it will “work hard” to provide Projects in ChatGPT to all users. Services can be accessed from the ChatGPT website or from the Windows desktop app. Mobile app users and MacOS desktop users can view Projects.

This feature is reminiscent of Google’s NotebookLM, although the program is more focused on research. Unlike NotebookLM’s Audio Show, Projects on ChatGPT does not offer podcast content. However, users of Projects on ChatGPT can still access other features of ChatGPT in conversations, such as Voice Mode, web search and Canvas.

NotebookLM became so popular that other businesses began using the software beyond research, including in services like CRMbecause of its ability to organize files and other information on a specific topic.

Create a project

Projects will be visible in the ChatGPT community. To create a new one, click the “Plus” icon. Then, you can name the project and change its colors.

One feature of Projects is the ability to change the way it responds through custom instructions. For example, a project manager can open a project to build a website. They can describe what the project contains and what the website does, and instruct ChatGPT to open the ChatGPT Canvas for recording.

Then, users can upload related documents to fill out the page. Projects take information from uploaded posts and related chats. You can move existing chats on ChatGPT to a Project and have those chats listed as data sources.

OpenAI plans to expand the file types Projects supports next year and add connections to Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. The company will also offer customization options through Projects.

All-in-one platform

Some like Projects in ChatGPT show the scope of OpenAI, Anthropicand other chat providers require users to stay on their platforms to do their work.
