Waymo’s robotaxi stuck around the circle

Circular. He caught Clark Griswold in “National Lampoon’s European Vacation” and now he stumbles upon a Waymo robotaxi.

A movie is making the rounds on social media showing the Waymo robotaxi going round and round – as if it’s stuck in a loop. A spokesperson for Waymo told TechCrunch that there were no passengers in the vehicle in the video and said the company has addressed the issue by sending software updates to its vehicles.

TechCrunch has asked Waymo to find out more about what caused this unusual behavior and how engineers ended up fixing such a unique situation.

Videos capturing the incredible behavior of robotaxis have been on the rise over the past year, especially in San Francisco – a place where self-driving cars operate. For example, earlier this year, a woman set up a channel that featured Waymo cars crying overnight in a parking lot near his San Francisco home.
