R Ashwin will be dropped as India are set to make major changes to their playing XI in the Brisbane Test

The Indian national cricket team is all set to make two changes in the playing line-up for the third test against the Australian national cricket team. The third match of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy between the teams will be played on Saturday (December 14) at the Gabba in Brisbane

According to reports in RevSportz, it has been learned that Ravichandran Ashwin and Harshit Rana will be ruled out of the third match of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The duo will replace Ravindra Jadeja and Harshit Rana in the team for the match.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Harshit Rana were not at their best in the second match of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Harshit Rana were not at their best in the second match of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which was a pink-ball Test. The off-spinner was added to the squad for that match only after replacing Washington Sundar in the XI from the first match, which was played at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Ravichandran Ashwin did not make much of an impact with the ball as he managed only one wicket. Not only that, he also failed to score a run with the bat. He will be replaced by Ravindra Jadeja, who is arguably better with the bat as compared to the off-spinner and is also among the best spinners in the team.

Ravindra Jadeja missed the first match as Washington Sundar was better than him. The all-rounder also did not make the squad for the second Test, but his absence was quite glaring as India lacked someone like him, who could score runs at No.7, especially in overseas conditions.

The addition of Akash Deep will be a big boost for India in Brisbane

On the other hand, Harshit Rana made his debut for India in the first match in Perth. The fast bowler was impressive with the ball in the first game as he picked crucial wickets for the team in both the innings. However, he did not look completely in control in the second game in Adelaide.

Harshit Rana struggled with the ball in the second game, and his selection in the team was criticized a lot. He will be replaced by Akash Deep and it will be a big boost for the Indian cricket team, especially considering the way the fast bowler has impressed many in his short career so far.

Akash Deep has been sensational against left-handers, and with the number of left-handers in the Australian team, he will be key to the team. He has been shaky in Indian conditions during the domestic season and would like to continue with the same performance at the Gabba, where the wicket suits the pacers.

Expected Indian playing XI for third Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
