In one example, I peeked inside a restaurant in New York City to check out the place. Google says it can use AI to stitch together pictures of the interior of a place and make it feel like you’re there. It did a great job, and I asked Gemini if the place would take a place, without saying the name, because I was looking at the name of the restaurant. They he does reservation, but Gemini couldn’t make one for me. (That integration may come later.)
Then, I watched a few videos on YouTube, where the 2D content looks sharp and beautiful. Stereoscopic recordings were better; my mind was besieged. I saw some people walking in the corridor and I asked Gemini where all this was, and he said, “New Zealand.” I have not been able to confirm this, but it seems like the correct answer. I saw remote playback of 2D videos where the player added depth and placement to give it a 3D feel. I jumped into the Google TV app and turned on “Cinema mode” to set up a theater for watching videos and movies, like on a VR headset.
Return to Searcha feature that Google introduced earlier this year on Android phonesit is also available in Android XR. Just walk to the item that’s closest to you, click the top button on the title, then pinch and draw around the item you want to know more about. You will find a Google Search page with results.
Smart Glasses
Project Moohan feels like Google and Samsung are reaching the VR market, although the Gemini integration gives their efforts a unique edge. However, I admit that I was very excited to try the smart glasses, where Gemini feels like they could be very useful. He was not disappointed. I went to another room and there were several mirrors in front of me. Some were glasses, some had clear glasses. Like a headset, you can fill them with your own content. Google did not provide a name for the corresponding glasses.
