Biden admin launches national strategy to combat Islamophobia

The Biden administration announced on Thursday that it was launching a national strategy to combat Islamophobia.

The move, which the administration described as the first strategy to combat Islamophobia and anti-Arab hatred, comes just over a year after Hamas’ unprovoked attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, in which followed spikes in antisemitism protests and antisemitism in the United States.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for comment.

“The very idea of America is that we are all created equal and deserve to be treated equally throughout our lives,” President Biden said in a statement posted on social media. “This strategy is a historic step to live up to our ideals. We walk together, maintaining these ideals and advancing our collective prosperity.”

The goal of the strategy is to “address the prejudice, discrimination and threats that Muslim and Arab Americans have long faced,” the White House said in a statement, noting that the threats against the Muslim and Arab communities in the United States increased over the past year.

“In October 2023, 6-year-old Wadee Alfayoumi, an American Muslim boy of Palestinian descent, was brutally murdered in his home in Illinois, and in the past year there have been other serious attacks against Muslims and Arab Americans.” said the statement.

The strategy to combat Islamophobia will focus on raising awareness of anti-Arab hatred, improving security, tackling discrimination, accommodating religious practices and building solidarity between communities.

Anti-Semitic incidents reached record highs after the October 7 attack Israel and the continued war with Hamas.
