As if to wake the dead, Netflix dropped the first official trailer for the second season of Castlevania: Nocturne.
Castlevania: Nocturne is the next Netflix video game series for Konami’s best-selling vampire slaying game, Castlevania. Unlike the original show, which followed the trio of Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard joining forces to defeat Dracula and his tyrannical gang. Nocturn sees Trevor and Sypha’s descendant, Richter, teaming up with Alucard to defeat the vampire messiah, Erzsebeth Báthory. Unlike Dracula’s plan to rid the world of humans after burning his wife at the stake, Erzsebeth plans to turn off the sun and let vampires roam the earth at their leisure.
In that way Powerhouse movies studio flair, the official trailer for the upcoming season seems to be upping the ante for the movie’s adaptation and promising another bloody good time.
The trailer appears to be picking up the finale of the first season, which saw Richter, his foster sister Maria Renard, and Annette take control of Erzsebeth – a rise that led to Maria’s mother, Tera, committing suicide and becoming unholy. student of Erzsebeth. When all hope was lost, Alucard appeared, saving the group and connecting with Trevor’s great-grandson (there are nine more villains to add here).
As usual, the arrogant Richter and the smug Alucard seem to be looking at how to rid Erzsebeth’s world in preparation for war. Seeing as how the last half of the trailer shows everyone fighting like the dickens, it’s safe to assume they’ll get over their feud and beat all of the vampire’s generous asses. The two-minute trailer also showed us Olrox, Mizrak, and Juste Belmont, teasing their involvement on Alucard and Richter’s side in the next battle to save humanity.
Netflix announced Castlevania: Nocturne he was renewed for a second season a week later it started again on the streamer in October 2023. To celebrate its renewal, Clive Bradley and Kevin Kolde released a joint statement thanking the fans for their support and sharing their excitement for “the next chapter in the Richter Belmont ride.” Before the newly released trailer, all people had to tear it apart were a storyboard and concept art trailer for the coming season last October and a first look at the trailer in September. Now, we have to wait a few weeks until 2025 to see how the story of Richter and pals goes.
Castlevania: Nocturne Game 2 premieres on Netflix January 16.
