So the competition continues to create a mixed environment. One of the ideas behind the Fuse is to get a large group of capacitors to discharge at the same time, creating a feedback loop. That’s why, at our show, there were all those big hats in the back of the audience. (You also see big-cap construction at other fusion startups, like Helion.) Fuse’s goal, as JC explains, is to be the SpaceX of fusion, so that it can benefit “big tech” and partners of all kinds.
Back to our story. JC contacts Serene and says we are opening a second building (the first was in Canada) and it would be great to have a spectacular opening ceremony. Serene, being an inventor who, by nature, works on music robots, uses hard work. Charlotte, being the director, does the same. Those of you who have experienced life may be asking yourself, “This sounds like a strange world with two queens.” Was it, uh, a way?” I’m not answering directly but I appreciate your sculpting wisdom.
Now you know the basics. I’m a scientist and I don’t enjoy superstitions, but a lot of events had to happen at the right time for this show to come together in just a few weeks. At the last minute, we wanted the best robots; UC Berkeley robotics professor Ken Goldberg found them for us. Why does reality overlap like this sometimes?
I used to do high-performance, high-quality music, often in VR, in the 1980s and ’90s. I was burnt. It was very expensive, stressful, and exhausting. I dreamed of a future where VR would be affordable and more people would know how to use it. But when the time came, instead of relaxing, I felt that VR had evolved too simple. There used to be a feeling of superiority. You had to make every triangle in the area count, as there couldn’t be too many, even if the computer doing the actual drawing cost a million dollars. There is a tangible care in these very old works.
If I ever wanted a hard time with money like a money maker, then I got it in this show. The week leading up to the show reminded me of the early days of VR. Late, late at night, which does not come easily to me as before, in repetition; Serene would have been up there trapped in ropes and a math dress, made by Threeasfour, but there is a problem with the timing and movement of the robot. With help he frees himself, gets to the screen, and does 10 minutes of the high-speed program. Robots also fly.
