Georgia hit-and-run incident at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s home leads to fatal car crash


An apparent call to the north georgia home by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., left a woman dead after a car crash involving local police.

Greene took to social media on Monday to report that he was the subject of a bomb threat directed at his home. The deputy said the Rome Police Department The assistant chief received the threat via email, prompting a bomb squad to be dispatched to his home.

Greene says this isn’t the first time she’s been the subject of a call since being elected to Congress, noting it’s been “at least nine times.”

A call involves alerting 911 to a false threat to a specific location or person, which prompts a police response and can divert resources from real crimes or threats.

Greene said the email was traced to a Russian IP address and that his office will work with local and federal law enforcement. including the FBI, bring the perpetrator to justice.

Rome police reported that while attempting to respond to Greene’s home, a fatal traffic incident occurred involving one of their officers.

“On Monday, December 9th, an officer with the Rome Police Department was traveling in a personal vehicle en route to take his place with the Bomb Squad on a call. This officer was involved in a traffic accident on Redmond Rd, near from Walmart, which has caused significant travel delays around the Norfolk Southern Railway tracks.”

Greene said he was “sickened” by the fatal crash, which he said claimed the life of a woman and injured a police officer.

“I’m sick right now. I was just informed that an innocent woman died today in a car accident involving a member of the Rome Police Bomb Squad who was responding to the threat at my home,” he wrote.

“These violent political threats have fatal consequences. It is undue pressure on law enforcement who must take them seriously. The officer was responding to protect my life. And now, a woman has lost her life because of of this despicable act,” the post. he said “My prayers are with Tammie Pickelsimer, her family, the officer who was injured and the entire Rome Police Department.”

Greene was notably outraged throughout her updates, blaming the caller for the call to commit murder.

“I’m sick to my stomach, but I’m also angry. This should never have happened and I pray it won’t happen again,” she said.

He went on to thank the PD of Rome for protecting the city and putting their lives on the line.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
