In a Q&A at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference, Disney CFO Hugh Johnston participated in a discussion about the Walt Disney Company’s future plans for its various entertainment divisions. Talk recently turned to how Disney Experiences is preparing for the opening of the Walt Disney World competition Epic Universe to Universal Studios Orlando.
According to the source report Mickey Blogthe discussion provided new insights into how Disney eventsThe Walt Disney Company’s theme park and cruise brand, plans to address a limited number of needs such as cost increase beat both of them Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. Johnston admitted that the drop in attendance in the summer of 2024 was “difficult” but things have been “going well” with buyers since then.
This is still evident as a few weeks ago, this price hike came as the season when people needed it the most – the holidays – started. At least Southern California residents can take part in ticket sales right now at the Disneyland Resort when the new year begins. “Get a 3-Day Ticket $67 Per Day” promotion. available for purchase here; allows three trips between January 1 and May 15, 2025.
As for Disney’s concerns about the much-anticipated opening of Epic Universe – an event that could affect the presence of Walt Disney World in Orlando – Johnston confirmed even before the question was raised that part of the Disney parks is “the property of one.”
Usually, when it comes to IPs (wink at Marvel) they don’t compete; Disney is working on integrating experiences and attractions based on recent movies such as Charm in next year’s new parade, it’s 3D Zootopia show at the end of next year.
When asked candidly, Mr. Johnston shared that Epic Universe is fun. Universal theme park is set to open with worlds inspired by Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon (at the time of the film) Nintendo, and Universal Monsters’ Dark Universe – although the company’s biggest IP right now is The bad guy (which currently has no plans to be shown in the parks even though it is needed).
Johnston noted that there is a sense of “a rising tide lifts all boats,” suggesting that people with more reasons to visit Orlando may be able to afford more trips to include all of these destinations. However, he added that despite more bookings this summer at Walt Disney World, the company is still “cautious and cautious” about the coming year and has given “negatives” on the books.
