TikTok will ask a court to delay an order that would ban its app next month

TikTok is beginning its last-ditch legal challenge to avoid a ban in the United States. The company gave permission in court on Monday, asking for a delay in the law that would have put the program out of business to allow time for a Supreme Court challenge.

His first court challenge to the law, which is due to take effect on January 19, 2025, which requires app stores and internet providers to ban TikTok if ByteDance does not sell the app. In them A three-judge panel of the appeals court wrote that the US government “has compelling national security concerns that apply to the platform that TikTok operates.”

TikTok has argued that the law is unconstitutional and that it would unfairly hurt creators and businesses that rely on its service. “Statistics show that small businesses on TikTok will lose more than $1 billion and creators will suffer about $300 million in lost revenue in one month unless the TikTok ban is stopped,” TikTok said in a statement on Monday.
