The draw for the third round of the King’s Cup

Barcelona were handed a tricky draw in the third round of the Copa del Rey today after being paired with Barbastra again.

The teams met last season at the same stage, with Barca struggling to extend their lead before goals from Fermin Lopez, Raphinha and Roberto Lewandowski sealed a 3-2 victory.

The fourth-tier side are struggling in the league – they are 16th in Group 2 of 18 teams – but they beat Gernika 2-0 yesterday.

Midfielder Javito said: “Last year is repeating itself! We are very happy and will try to enjoy it again.”

Barbastro has already played for a Catalan team this year after beating Barca’s rivals Espanyol in the previous round.

Real Madrid will also face the Segunda Division RFEF side after being drawn at Deportivo Minera in a home game against Cartagena.

Athletic Bilbao, who won the Copa on penalties against Real Mallorca last season to end a 40-year trophy drought, will play Logrones, who beat Girona in the previous round.

Atletico Madrid head south to face Marbella, while Valencia face local rivals Eldense.
