Please stay Mo! Mac Allister eager for Salah to sign new contract with Liverpool

Alexis MacAllister says it would be “ideal” for Mohamed Salah to end his career at Liverpool.

Salah is out of contract – along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold – at the end of the season and has expressed his disappointment that new terms have not yet been agreed in several rare media appearances.

Reports this morning suggest Liverpool have made their first bid for the Egyptian star and Mac Allister is hoping the matter can be resolved quickly to allow Salah to focus on firing Liverpool domestically and in Europe.

He told Spanish newspaper AS: “I hope he can stay at Liverpool next year. I want the negotiations to be successful.

“He seems happy here; he is a club legend. It would be ideal if he could finish his career here, but these are very personal decisions and it depends on how the club analyzes or decides.

“He inspires us a lot, on and off the field. He is an example of hard work and dedication, always striving to do his best. He is a very hardworking person who does his best to play football.

“You can see it on the field: Salah has the personality to always go above and beyond, and when you have him with you, you know he is a player who will assist you or score goals. I hope he will continue like that, because he is one of the most important players in our team.”

Mac Allister impressed by the impact of the groove

Salah has continued to thrive under new boss Arne Slott, who took over from Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.

And Argentine midfielder Mac Allister was impressed by the way the Dutchman quietly implemented his ideas.

“We came from a long process with Jürgen Klopp, where the main ideas were already established,” he added. “Basically, Arne Slot did not come to change everything, but to add his methodology to what we were already working on.

“The biggest difference, or what we added, is patience when we have the ball. That’s the biggest difference right now. Now we have more of the ball, which allows us to create more scoring opportunities.

“The team feels very comfortable and is doing very well, as seen against Real Madrid in the Champions League and against Manchester City in the Premier League. It makes you more confident and makes us see that we can compete against any team.”
