President-elect Donald Trump visited French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday in Parisfor a meeting he said was to discuss the world going “crazy”.
Trump was greeted by Macron at the Elysée Palace and said the two leaders had “great success working together on defense and offense” during their first administration.
“And it certainly seems like the world is going a little crazy right now and we’re going to talk about that,” the president-elect said Saturday.
He also cited that he and Macron have “a great relationship” and called the people of France “spectacular”.
In a post on Truth Social sharing a video of the exchange, Trump said he considered the trip “A GREAT HONOR.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also joined the meeting. saluting Trump with a handshake when he arrived. Trump has said he will end the war in Ukraine quickly when he is sworn in next month.
trump will attend the reopening of Cathedral of Notre Dame later in the day while in Paris. the cathedral suffered a devastating fire in the spring of 2019causing its spire and the wooden lattice of its roof to collapse.
First Lady Jill Biden will attend also the reopening. The White House said Friday that President Biden could not go due to a scheduling conflict.
